The Roanoke Valley Court Appointed Special Advocate Foundation recently elected officers for the 1993-94 term.
Zip Basile was elected president. Other officers are: Judy Monahan, vice president; Sue Kennedy, secretary; and Uneita Anderson, treasurer. Newly elected board members include Dr. Joan Derenge and Charles Lunsford.
The foundation trains and appoints volunteers to speak in court for the interests of more than 100 children in the Roanoke Valley who have been removed from their homes because of abuse or neglect. Anyone interested in learning more about the program may call 981-2407.
TRUST to hold training for new counselors
TRUST, the Roanoke Valley Trouble Center, Inc. is seeking new volunteers to provide telephone counseling services and personal counseling to clients in the TRUST House.
TRUST training emphasizes the development of listening and problem-solving skills dealing with relationships, drug and alcohol abuse, sexual assault and spouse abuse.
Anyone interested in the training session that starts Oct. 1, should call 776-3550, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or 344-1948 after 5 p.m. and on weekends.
