Three area businesses have filed petitions in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western district of Virginia in Roanoke:
McIlhany Equipment Co. Inc. has filed for protection from creditors during liquidation. McIlhany formerly operated a business in the 1400 block of Center Avenue Northwest for sales and rentals of heavy equipment.
Kent H. McIlhany II, president, estimated assets at less than $50,000 and liabilities at $100,000 to $499,999.
Wanda L. Daniels of Roanoke filed for liquidation, listing assets of $9,400 and liabilities of $116,914 in her petition. She previously did business as Atlantic Productions and Rob Roy Entertainment.
Roy Lee Stevenson of Cedar Bluff, doing business as R.L. Stevenson Trucking, filed for liquidation. He listed assets of $39,478 and liabilities of $48,300.

North American Housing Corp. in Boones Mill has been ranked among the top U.S. builders by Professional Builder & Remodeler, a trade magazine. The companies were ranked on their 1992 revenues. North American Housing ranked 257th, with $34.2 million in revenues.
Boone & Co., a Roanoke real estate broker, was ranked 147th among top residential real estate companies in the United States by National Relocation & Real Estate, a trade magazine. The ranking was based on 1992 business, when Boone reported completing 2,109 transactions valued at $245.2 million.
The Olsten Corp., a Westbury, N.Y.-based provider of nursing and allied health services, has acquired Lifetime Corp., parent of Kimberly Quality Care. Both companies have operations in Roanoke. The stock transaction was valued at $449 million.
