NEW RIVER PEOPLE IN BUSINESS

PATTI HALL of Christiansburg, ROSALIE VEIT of Blacksburg, KELLIE SHRADER of Pearisburg and TRINA PAULEY of Floyd attended the Professional Secretaries International Convention in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

\ GEORGE B. McCLELLAND of Christiansburg was the national delegate representing Virginia at the American Chiropractic Association's 30th Annual Business Meeting and Convention in Hawaii, where topics centered on national health-care reform.

\ FRED CECIL has been named vice president of Maco Tool of Christiansburg.

Cecil has been with the 15-employee company since 1986.

\ MARY ELIZABETH HARKINS has joined the law firm of Gilmer, Sadler, Ingram, Sutherland & Hutton as associate in its Pulaski office.

She received a bachelor's degree from Duke University and law degree from North Carolina Central University.

Awards have been received by three Radford Community Hospital employees:

\ NANCY ROOT, director of the home health plus program, received the Nursing Excellence Award from the Epsilon Psi chapter of Radford University.

\ FLORENCE BISHOP, director of medical records, has been named a distinguished member of the Virginia Health Information Management Association.

\ PETE FARMER of human resources has been named director of employee relations.

Kubota Tractor dealer MIKE ANDERSON participated in the company's 1993 National Dealer Advisory Board meeting in July in Torrance, Calif.

Anderson is president of Valley Implement in Christiansburg and is one of eight dealers elected by his peers to serve on the advisory board.

\ JIM EARP, salesman for New River Pontiac-GMC Truck-Nissan recently sold his 1000th new Datsun just about 10 years to the day from when he began working in the automotive industry. Earp has been consistently ranked in the top 10 salesmen for customer satisfaction in Nissan's Earp mid-Atlantic region.

\ KATHRYN C. MANTZ, executive director of the Christiansburg-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, received certificate at the University of Delaware for completing her sixth year of the Institute for Organizational Management.

\ DAVID M. WINANT has been named manager of CCS Data Station's Computer Service Center.

He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech.

\ BRENT A. CALHOON, ARTHUR FISHER, CHARLES B. HARPER, ALICIA STONE and CORBIN STONE of Blacksburg passed the Uniform Certified Public Accountant examination.
