JOURNALIST, PRINCIPAL LULA WITT DIES AT 86

Lula B. Witt, a former school principal and journalist in Bedford County, died Tuesday. She was 86.

Witt taught in nine schools before becoming principal of the Huddleston School in Bedford County. She retired in 1972, but continued her favorite activity as a reporter and photographer for the Bedford Democrat.

She also worked for newspapers in Beckley, W.Va., and Miami and was a correspondent for papers in Roanoke, Lynchburg and Richmond.

Graveside services will be at Oakwood Cemetery at 2 p.m. Friday.
