OBIT WITT, LULA B.

WITT, Lula B. (`Bobby`), 86, of Bedford, died Tuesday, August 31, 1993, in Bedford County Memorial Hospital. She was born July 27, 1907, in Bramwell, W.Va., a daughter of the late Abram Witt and Lelia Anderson Witt. She was a retired school teacher and longtime reporter and photographer for the Bedford Bulletin-Democrat and the Roanoke, Lynchburg and Richmond newspapers and United Press International. She was a member of Bedford Presbyterian Church, Bedford Historical Society and the Bedford City/County Museum. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Booker T. Witt, John A. Witt, Jane Peterson and Beatrice Carneal. She is survived by two brothers, Roland M. Witt Sr. of Beckley, W.Va. and Abram Witt Jr. of Norfolk; a sister, Mary Witt Turner of Fort Worth, Texas; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; special friends, Dr. and Mrs. John A. Wente, Mr. and Mrs. William D. English and Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Harris, all of Bedford. Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside in Oakwood Cemetery Friday, September 3, 1993, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. J. Harris Stephens officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home and suggests memorials to the Bedford Public Library Foundation, 321 North Bridge Street, Bedford, VA 24523.
