OBIT-CHITWOOD, JIM HUGHES ("HUDIE")
CHITWOOD, Jim Hughes ("Hudie"), 76, of Rocky Mount, died Thursday,
September 2, 1993, at the VA Hospital in Salem. Mr. Chitwood was a member of
Furnace Creek Baptist Church, where he served as deacon. Mr. Chitwood was an
Army veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Ida Mullins Chitwood;
one son and daugther-in-law, Dewey and Marsha Chitwood, Wirtz; two daughters
and sons-in-law, Ann and Richard Stoneman, South Boston, Carolyn and Gary
Gregory, Roanoke; six granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; one sister,
Mary Adkins, Martinsville; two brothers, Arthur Chitwood and Henry Chitwood,
both of Rocky Mount. Funeral services will be conducted at Furnace Creek
Baptist Church, 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Troy Mays and Rev. Joe Dillon
officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will
receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service, 342 S. Main
St., Rocky Mount.
