Rising Star 2 , a media convention of workshops, panels and rap sessions with film stars, writers, directors and producers, will be held Oct. 1-2 at the Salem Civic Center.
This year's guests are Patricia Tallman of ``Star Trek: The Next Generation'' and ``Deep Space 9,'' Felecia Bell of ``Deep Space 9'' and ``Days of Our Lives,'' and Michele Matheson of ``Mr. Belvedere'' and ``Life Goes On.''
Other media guests include special-effects designer Mike Jittlov, award-winning producer Danny Boyd, actress and author Deanna Lund, actress and screen writer Brinke Stevens, and authors Lisa Cantrell, Bennet Pomerantz and Allen Wold.
Rising Star guests will conduct workshops and programs relating to writing and film making. The event also will include an art show, costume call, dealers' room, dinner, film festivals and live action role play.
Admission is $10. Doors open for those pre-registered at 4 p.m., with the convention lasting from 5-midnight and from 9 a.m.-midnight on Oct. 2.

\ Bedford art show
Bedford Main Street and Bedford American Association of University Women will present the Centerfest Art Show on Sept. 25 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The art will be displayed along the walkway between the Presbyterian Church and the Central Fidelity Bank building.
To enter the show, call 586-9391 for an entry form. Deadline is for entry is Sept. 17 and there is a $10 fee.
