ODU'S PURNELL PROMOTES SMITH

Old Dominion head basketball coach Oliver Purnell announced Friday the promotion of Frank Smith as his full-time assistant coach. Smith served as the Monarchs' restricted earnings assistant he past two seasons. Smith was an assistant coach under Purnell at Radford University in 1990-91.

In other regional sports:

Former Rutgers University basketball player, Kelley Watts, has been named to a restricted earnings coaching position at the University of Virginia. Watts will assist UVa head coach Debbie Ryan in scouting, recruiting, player conditioning and summer camp.
