BLUE CROSS GIVES $25,000 TO CLINIC

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Virginia has awarded the Bradley Free Clnic a $25,000 grant, which clinic officials said will finance an additional staff position and more services to those who can't afford medical care.

It is the second year in a row the insurer has granted the award.

"Survey after survey shows that those who are uninsured neglect to get medical treatment when they need it and this often compounds their health problems," said Phyllis Cothran, president and chief operating officer.

The clinic, founded in 1974, serves Roanoke, Roanoke County, Salem, Vinton, Botetourt County and Craig County.
