Mary Holland Burford and John Berton Cunningham were married September 4,
1993 in St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Richmond, Va. The officiating
clergymen were Rev. Randolph M. Hollerith and Rev. Dr. William R. Klein of
Roanoke's 2nd Presbyterian Church. The reception was held at The Tuckahoe
Woman's Club. The maid of honor was Ashley Penn Christopher of New York, N.Y.
The matron of honor was Elizabeth Cunningham Morgan of Richmond, Va., cousin
of the bride. The bridesmaids were Robin Louis Cunningham of Roanoke, cousin
of the bride, Carolyn Fleming Cunningham of Alexandria, sister of the
bridegroom, Virginia Travis Shackelford of Charlottesville, Alice Stockton
LeMay of Roanoke, Jennifer Vakos Dragas of Virginia Beach, Lucy Siewers
Damgard of New Orleans, La. and Stacey Ward Halpert of Baltimore, Md. The
flowergirls were Ashley Ryan Argabright of Arnold, Md., niece of the bride and
Caroline Hunter Mauck of Richmond, cousin of the bride. The best man was Allen
Alexander Cunningham of Richmond, brother of the groom. The groomsmen were
William Thomas Cunningham of Richmond, father of the groom, Douglas Reid
Burford of Richmond, brother of the bride, Lenox Birckhead Turnbull, Jr. of

cousin of the bride.
The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Robert Shannon Argabright, II of Richmond
and Mr. Douglas Gene Burford of Roanoke. She is a graduate of the University
of Virginia, Charlottesville and is employed by Ogilvy & Mather Advertising
Agency, New York City. The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Thomas
Cunningham of Richmond, is a graduate of The University of Va.,
Charlottesville and The Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at
Dartmouth College. The bridegroom is employed by Salomon Brothers Inc., New
York City. The newlyweds will live in New York City.
