TINLEY-CRAFT

A double ring, candlelight ceremony was performed September 4, 1993, atseven o'clock in the evening at Vinton Baptist Church by the Reverend William E. Hungate and Doctor William L. Ross uniting in marriage, Melissa Ann Craft and Roger Dale Tinley, Jr.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer J. Craft, Jr. of Vinton. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Geraldine Phillips of Vinton and the late Mr. Lynn I. Phillips; and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer J. Craft, Sr., of Roanoke. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Dale Tinley, Sr. of Vinton, and the grandson of Mrs. Florence Tibbs of Vinton, and Mrs. Bessie J. Tinley of Bristol, Va., and the late Charlie Tinley.

Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a gown of ivory satin accented with Schiffle lace, seed pearls, sequence and silver beads. The Gibson sleeve was detailed with softly pleated shoulders and was finished with Lilly points. The front of the dress had a V-neckline and a fitted bodice. The back of the dress was a key-hole back with a pleated bow at the waist. The semi-cathedral train featured a beaded cameo applique. She carried a bouquet of roses, baby's breath accented with ivy and pearls.

Jennifer Craft of Washington, D.C., sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Sarah Blount Martin of Cary, North Carolina; Heather Ashbury of Walkersville, Maryland; Jennifer Wright of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Lynn Spinner of Richmond; Becky Maxey of Bedford;Stacie Brown, Stephanie Brown and Susan Robinson, all of Vinton. KathyMcCormick of Summit, New Jersey,attended the guestbook, and Cindy Dillon of Roanoke, read the scripture. The bridesmaids all carried fans designed and made by the bride.

Best man was the groom's father,Roger Dale Tinley, Sr. Ushers were Jeff Carwille of Appomattox; Greg Roberts of Rocky Mount; Walker Ashbury ofWalkersville, Maryland; Chad Wade,Zeph Cunningham, Winn Carter, Kevin Brizendine and Robert Craft, brother of the bride, all of Vinton. Cole Hogan of Roanoke, was the junior usher; and Steven Soltis of Vinton was the ringbearer.

Penny Morrison-Ross of Vinton was the wedding director. Mrs. Gaile Ashbury of Walkersville, Maryland, aunt of the bride, was pianist; and the brides former piano teacher, Mrs. Elma Swain of Vinton, was the organist. Mr. Lowell Hill was the soloist.

The reception was held at theRadisson, Patrick Henry.

The bride is a graduate of William Byrd High School and Lynchburg College. She is employed by the State of Virginia as an auditor of Public Accounts. The groom, also a graduate of William Byrd High School, is currently attending Opticanry School in Richmond, and serves in the U.S. Navy Reserves.

After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple will live in Richmond.
