NEWMAN ANNIVERSARY

The Reverend Dr. Doug and Mrs.Phyllis Newman, of Roanoke, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary August 28, 1993. A luncheon, hosted by their children, was held at the Roanoker Restaurant.

The Newmans have four children, Sara Crosby of Gaston, S.C., DougNewman, Jr. and Mark Newman ofSalem, Va., and Celeste Smetana ofNewport News, Va. They also have ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Dr. Newman retired after 44 years of ministry in the United Methodist Church. He currently assists with the ministry of Cave Spring United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Newman is a former member of the Roanoke Valley Choral Society and the Thursday Morning Music Club. She currently participates in the Historical Club and the United Methodist Women and Choir of South Roanoke UnitedMethodist Church.
