ANDRIS OLMETTI and A. SCOTT McDOWELL have joined Hayes, Seay, Mattern & Mattern Inc.'s Environmental Group in Roanoke. Olmetti will supervise the firm's environmental services to industry, providing environmental audits, OSHA compliance audits and indoor air-quality services. McDowell will provide site assessment and remediation and groundwater-resource services.
Before joining HSMM, Olmetti was operations manager at Environmental Protection Systems in Roanoke. McDowell worked for Environmental Strategies Corp. in Reston.
COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES
Eight new faculty members have been appointed at Roanoke College. They are W. KEVIN BAKER, assistant professor of business administration; CAROL CISSEL, assistant professor of business administration; GIL DUNN, visiting assistant professor of sociology; LINDA GOODING, visiting instructor of computer science (for the spring term); LESLIE LAMBERT, associate professor of physical education and chairman of the department of education and physical education; PATCHES MABE, visiting instructor of mathematics; SCOTT PIERCE, assistant professor of physical education; and FLORINDA RUIZ, visiting assistant professor of foreign languages.
ENGINEERING
\ W. TED DEAN has joined Earth Reach Environmental Consultants Inc. in Rocky Mount as an environmental geologist. He recently received a master of science degree in geology with an emphasis on hydrogeology through the Center for Engineering Geosciences at Texas A&M University.
INSURANCE SERVICES
\ DAVID E. PARTRIDGE has joined Delta Dental Plan of Virginia as a regional marketing manager. He will service the Richmond, Roanoke, Lynchburg, Danville, Martinsville, Shenandoah Valley and Northern Virginia markets. Partridge joins Delta Dental from NationsBank in Richmond, where he worked for 16 years. The prepaid dental benefits company is based in Roanoke.
LAW
\ CHARLES E. TROLAND JR. has been elected a member of Glenn, Flippin, Feldmann & Darby, a Roanoke law firm. He joined the firm in 1983 and became its tax counsel in 1989.
Troland is a lecturer on estate planning on behalf of the Virginia Law Foundation and is on the legislative committee of the trusts and estates section of the Virginia Bar Association.
The Richmond native received a bachelor's degree in history from Princeton University in 1968, was graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1973, and received a master of laws degree in taxation from New York University in 1974.
\ WILLIAM H. LINDSEY of the Roanoke law firm of Bounds & Dorsey was recently elected chairman of the Virginia State Bar Eighth District Disciplinary Committee, which is responsible for the investigation and adjudication of ethical complaints made against lawyers in localities ranging from Roanoke to Staunton.
\ L.B. CHANDLER JR. of Charlottesville, senior partner of the law firm of Chandler, Franklin & O'Bryan, was recently elected chairman for the state delegates of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He will be on the executive committee for the coming year.
Chandler has been a trial lawyer for 27 years and founded the law firm of Chandler, Franklin & O'Bryan in 1982. It now has 18 affiliated law offices in Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina, one of which is in Roanoke.

\ STAN ANDRZEJEWSKI, vice president of the commercial loan division of First Virginia Bank, has been elected for a second term as president of the board of directors of the TAP Housing Corp. WILLIAM SPARROW, retired from C&P Telephone, and A.C. MERRILL of Merrill Construction Co., have been elected first and second vice presidents of the corporation. ED CLOWSER, vice president of Southwest Virginia Savings Bank, has been re-elected treasurer, and ROBERT "RUSTY" COFFMAN, vice president of Central Fidelity Mortgage Co., has been elected secretary of the board.

Legends Sporting Goods has named LISA MAYS director of promotions for its Virginia stores. Mays is a 1989 graduate of Virginia Tech and has been with the company for three years. She will be responsible for coordinating advertising and promotions for Legends' 13 retail sporting goods stores in Virginia. Most of them operate under the name of Legends and Sports Fan, including Legends in Tanglewood Mall.

\ ALAN E. BARR has been named vice president of the western region of Thomas A. Harris & Co. Inc., an independent manufacturers' representative firm representing more than 40 lighting and controls manufacturers. Barr, who joined the corporation in 1987, most recently was territory manager for its western region, covering the Roanoke area.
