NORTHSIDE NIPS RADFORD FOR 1ST WIN

Michelle Orlando scored 18 points as Northside earned its first victory of the girls' basketball season, a 52-51 non-district decision over Radford.

The Bobcats led 32-28 at halftime and had several chances to win it at the end. Radford's Crystal Hubbard stole the ball with 14 seconds left and Northside leading by one. But the Bobcats couldn't convert, missing three shots as the clock wound down.

Junior Shannon Bragg led Radford (0-2) with 18 points and 10 rebounds, and freshman Charlee Taylor added 12 points.

Northside is 1-1. \

Graham 39

Carroll County 24

HILLSVILLE - Angela Webb scored 15 points and Leslie Roberts added eight as Graham won the Carroll County Tipoff Tournament with a 3-0 record in round-robin play.

Graham held a 23-10 lead at halftime and never looked back. Carroll County, which finished second in the tournament with a 2-1 record, was led by Sheila Bunn's 10 points.

Rocky Gap, led by Nancy Tupper with 15 points, beat Pocahontas 51-35 in the consolation game.
