OBIT YOUNG, HARRY WILSON
YOUNG, Harry Wilson, 67, of Salem, died Friday, September 3, 1993, at his
home. He was a native of Mt. Pleasant (Garden City), but had lived in Salem
for many years. He had retired from Ingersoll-Rand Company after thirty-nine
years of service as an area sales and service representative. He was a member
of Bethel Baptist Church and its Mens Fellowship class. He was a World War II
Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen McDaniel Young; two sons
and daughters-in-law, Neil B. Young and Becky J. Young of Roanoke, Gary W. and
Malinda M. Young of Ironto; one daughter, Jackie Y. Sarver of Salem; two
grandchildren, Samantha Young and Shae Young, both of Roanoke; one brother,
Kenneth Young of Salem; five sisters, Hazel Young of Chantilly, Va., Claudine
Childress of Roanoke, Ruby Jenkins and Fern Henry, both of Salem, Louise Hurt
of Backcreek, Va. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September
7, 1993, at the John M. Oakey and Son Chapel in Salem by the Rev. R. Stuart
Carlton. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation is
anytime after noon Sunday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home
on Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions
may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Memorial Fund or the American Cancer
Society.
