OBIT GIBSON, OSCAR THOMAS SR.

GIBSON, Oscar Thomas Sr., 85, of Roanoke, died Saturday, September 4, 1993, in a local nursing center. He was born in Tazewell, Va., then came to Roanoke in the early 1920's. He established Gibson Radiator Shop in 1941, and then retired in 1976. He was a member of the Parkway Weseleyan Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Myrtie Dickerson Gibson and also a grandson, Jim Bob Bowles. Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Joyce Gibson, Doug and Judy Gibson, all of Roanoke, Frank (Dick) and Sue Gibson, Lawrenceville, Ga., Jack and Marcie Gibson, Salem, Gary (Pete) Gibson, Hollins; two daughters and sons-in-law, Naida and Ray Saunders, Tuscaloosa, Ala., Millie and Bill Bowles, Salem; one brother, Robert L. Gibson of Roanoke; three sisters, Nell Woolridge, Ellen Dickerson, both of Blacksburg, Nancy Royal, Roanoke; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 7, 4 p.m. at the John M. Oakey and Son Chapel in Salem by the Rev. John Ott. Burial will follow in Cedar Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, after 11 a.m. Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Association for Retarded Citizens of Roanoke, P.O.
