OBIT STEVERS, PRICIE MARY
STEVERS, Pricie Mary, 90, of Pembroke, died Saturday evening, September 4,
1993, in a Blacksburg hospital. Born in Pembroke on March 31, 1903, she was a
daughter of the late Henry and Lillie Gillespie Link. She was the faithful
wife of John Dexter Stevers for almost 64 years until he was called home to
heaven. Two sons also preceded her to eternity, Jessie William and Russell Lee
Stevers and two brothers. She was born again into God's family in 1938, and
served faithfully in the Assembly of God and Church of God in Pembroke, after
attending the Berean Baptist Church for many years. Mrs. Stevers is survived
by two daughters, (Mrs. Lewis H.) Kathleen `Kitty` Whittaker of Eggleston and
(Mrs. Frank) Lois E. Eppling of Pembroke; six sons, Henry Wiley Stevers,
Bueland David Stevers and Gerald Link Stevers, all of Pembroke, Charles Donald
Stevers of Newport, Lloyd Arthur Stevers of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and John Jacob
Stevers of Odessa, Texas; one who claimed her for mother in Henderson, Nev.;
one sister, Alma Mildred Hall of Blacksburg. Her extended family includes 36
grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and the
residents and staff of Heritage Hall of Blacksburg. Funeral services will be
conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel in Pembroke
with the Rev. James Walker, the Rev. Raymond White and the Rev. Eddie Kendall
officiating. Burial will be in the Fillinger Cemetery at Pembroke. The family
will receive friends at the Funeral Home Monday from 6 to 9 p.m. Memorial
contributions may be made to the Pembroke Church of God.
