ENGLISH CLUBS TRANSFER EX-UVA PLAYER

English soccer clubs Derby and Sheffield Wednesday reached agreement on a transfer fee for U.S. soccer player John Harkes, the former University of Virginia star.

Harkes, who transferred to Derby during the first week of the season, was bought by the Division One team for 800,000 pounds ($1.22 million). Sheffield Wednesday, which is in the Premier League, made Harkes available for transfer after failing to come to terms on a new contract with the Kearny, N.J., midfielder during the summer.
