OBIT AYERS, NORA CRAIGHEAD

AYERS, Nora Craighead, 79, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, September 5, 1993, in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was formerly of Moneta. She was born November 11, 1913, in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Benjamine Craighead and Daisy Byrd Craighead. Her husband was the late Doc (Buck) Ayers. She was a member of the Radford Baptist Church. She is survived by five sons, Luther Ayers, Moneta, Aubrey O. Ayers, Otha L. Ayers, Boyd Ayers, all of Gretna, Raymond Ayers, Roanoke; four daughters, Betty Wright, Salem, Janet Ferguson, Moneta, Ruth Tuck, Farmville, Rachel Ayers, Roanoke; three sisters, Goldie Cooper, Evelyn Craighead, both of Roanoke, Phyllis Rawson, Ohio; 28 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, September 8, 1993, at 11 a.m. from the Radford Baptist Church, by the Rev. Tommy Floyd, rev. H. R. Thompson and Clayton Leonard. Interment will follow in the Byrd Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford.
