GATES, MOORE LEAD CAVS OVER DEMONS

Jenny Gates scored 20 points and Sarah Moore added 14 as Lord Botetourt pounded host Christiansburg 59-33 in a non-district girls' high school basketball game Tuesday night.

Christiansburg (0-1) took an early lead before the Cavaliers (3-1) roared back in the second quarter, outscoring the Demons 22-6 to take a 31-18 halftime lead.

Rebecca McNeil led Christiansburg with 14 points.

At Salem, Heather Moore scored 19 points, leading the Spartans (2-0) to a 46-33 non-district win over the Knights.

Teresa Hickman paced the Knights with eight points.
