WIFE INDICTED IN HUSBAND'S MUTILATION

A woman who admitted cutting off her husband's penis while he slept after he allegedly raped her was indicted by a grand jury Tuesday on charges of malicious wounding.

Lorena Bobbitt, 24, told police her husband, John Wayne Bobbitt, woke her in the early morning of June 23 and forced her to have sex. She told police that after she cut off his penis, she threw it out her car window as she drove to the police station to report the rape.

Police recovered the organ and surgeons reattached it in a nine-hour operation.
