OBIT BROKER, EVELYN FROETSCHER
BROKER, Evelyn Froetscher, 77, of Roanoke, died Saturday, September 4,
1993, at her summer home in Wellfleet, Mass. She was born June 3, 1916, in
Union City, N.J. She graduated from Bogota High School, Bogota, N.J. in 1933.
She was a graduate of Montclair State College, Montclair, N.J., in 1937, cum
laude. She taught English and Drama in Maplewood-South Orange School system
for five years, (1937-1942). In both Virginia and Ohio, she directed and acted
in numerous amateur productions. She was a summer resident of Wellfleet, Mass.
since 1953 and a resident of Roanoke from 1965 to current date, and formerly
of Fairview Park, Ohio, from 1948 to 1965. She was past president of Parent
Teachers Council in Fairview Park, Ohio, and a very active member of
Unitarian-Universalist Church in Rocky River, Ohio and Roanoke. She was an
avid student of antiques and an expert in Victorian "Art Glass". She
re-organized the school system curriculum for the Fairview Park, Ohio high
school system. She was predeceased by a daughter, Carolyn A. Broker. She is
survived by her husband, Thomas O. Broker, Roanoke and Wellfleet, Mass.; two
sons, Thomas R. Broker, Mt. Brook, Ala., Stephen P. Broker, New Haven, Conn.;
several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at Pleasant Hill
Cemetery, Wellfleet, Mass., Saturday, September 11, 1993, at 4 p.m. Burial to
follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Wellfleet, Mass. Nickerson Funeral Home,
Main St., Wellfleet, Mass., is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial
donations may be made to the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Roanoke, 2015
Grandin Rd., S.W., Roanoke, 24015, or the American Cancer Society.
