FOR THE RECORD

Because of an editing error, a paragraph was dropped from a story in some editions Wednesday about campaign-finance issues in the governor's race between George Allen and Mary Sue Terry. The passage that the paragraph was dropped from should have read:

Marlin said Terry is running a broad-based campaign; he said more than 10,000 of the 13,000-plus donations to Terry have been for less than $100.

In his attack on Terry, Allen noted that some of her biggest contributors are lawyers and law firms that have won millions of dollars in contracts with state agencies - legal work that was parceled out or overseen by Terry as state attorney general. The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported in May that these state-paid lawyers and firms had contributed $175,000 to Terry's campaign for governor.
