OBIT MCCOY, HARRY ROBERT SR.
MCCOY, Harry Robert Sr., 87, of Roanoke, died on Wednesday, September 8,
1993. He was born in Fayette County, West Virginia, the son of John Sherman
McCoy and Maude Lively McCoy. He attended the University of Virginia and was a
member of Theta Chi Fraternity. After a career that spanned more than 40
years, he retired in 1970 from the Exxon Company as Senior Account Executive
in Industrial Sales. He was one of a select few individuals nationally to be
inducted into Exxon's Marketing Hall of Fame. Mr. McCoy was a member of Greene
Memorial United Methodist Church, a 32 Mason and member of the Kazim Temple
of Roanoke. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Ruby Phipps McCoy; a daughter,
Nell Savopoulos, Hunt Valley, Md.; two sons, Harry Robert Jr., Roanoke and
David, New York City; sisters, Dorothy McCauley, Front Royal, Va., and Stella
West, Simpsonville, S.C.; a brother, Dan McCoy, Monroe, N.C.; four
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends may call at Oakey's South
Chapel, 4257 Brambleton Avenue, S.W. from 2 to 4 p.m. or 7 to 9 p.m. on
Friday, September 10, 1993. The funeral service will be held in the South
Chapel on Saturday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Walter S. Lockett Jr.
officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of
flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American
Parkinson's Disease Association, 60 Bay Street, Suite 401, Staten Island, N.Y.
