NAMES & CHANGES

Motley to manage Chemsolv

RICK MOTLEY has been named vice president and general manager for Chemsolv Inc., a Roanoke-based distributor of industrial chemicals and lubricants. Motley joined the company in 1982 as a sales representative and has been sales manager since 1988. TOM BOEHLING JR. has joined the company, replacing Motley as sales manager.

BANKING

Crestar Bank has announced the promotions of GEORGE A. BARROWS to senior vice president and RUTH F. ANDREWS to vice president. Barrows is senior regional credit administrator. Before joining Crestar in January, he was vice president and commercial loan/business development officer for Dominion Bank. Andrews has been manager of the commercial quality control center in the western region since 1987 and was promoted to assistant vice president in 1989.

Also, CAROLYN H. COLES has joined Crestar Mortgage Corp. as community outreach originator for Roanoke, Martinsville, Radford, Covington and Clifton Forge. She will help generate loans for low- to moderately priced housing.

Premier Bankshares Corp. has appointed JAMES R. WHEELING, president and chief executive officer of Tazewell National Bank, as successor to JACK P. CHAMBERS, president and chief executive officer of Premier. Chambers plans to retire Dec. 31. Wheeling was a national bank examiner for the federal Comptroller of the Currency. He also was president and chief executive officer of Elk National Bank of Charleston, W.Va., and has been in his current position at Tazewell National Bank since 1990.

ENGINEERING

Spectrum Engineers has announced the addition to its staff of DAMON\ LITTLEFIELD, a structural engineer; MICHAEL EALES, a mechanical engineer; and LORNA WANNER, a mechanical designer. Littlefield joins the company with eight years of structural design and project management experience. Eales has experience in energy management systems design, heating and air-conditioning systems design, and construction troubleshooting. Wanner's background includes architectural engineering.

GOVERNMENT

\ WALTER C. JONES has been selected by the Internal Revenue Service as group manager for the Criminal Investigation Division's Roanoke office. He was assigned to the executive office of the president as policy adviser on financial crimes from 1991 to 1993. He most recently was technical adviser to the IRS assistant commissioner for criminal investigation in Washington, D.C.

INSURANCE SERVICES

Scott Insurance has promoted SHERRIE DENISON to account executive in its Roanoke office. Denison had been a commercial account analyst and office supervisor before taking her present position. She will continue as office supervisor as she develops new business and manages current clients.

Also, ERIK A. KORONEOS, a vice president at Scott, has been elected to the company's board of directors. He has been at Scott for seven years, including time as sales manager.

LAW

\ STEPHEN W. LEMON has been named a partner in the firm of Martin, Hopkins & Lemon, where he will concentrate primarily on business, real estate, trust and estate law. Also, KIRK A. LUDWIG has joined the firm as an associate. His primary concentrations are civil litigation, real estate, trusts and estates.

MANUFACTURING

\ WILLIAM R. JOHNSON JR., vice president of manufacturing at Singer Furniture Co. in Roanoke, has been elected president of the manufacturing division of the American Furniture Manufacturers Association. On the executive committee with Jones is BOB HAROLD, plant manager at Hooker Furniture Corp. in Roanoke, chairman of the board. Newly elected board members from Western Virginia are BOBBY I. HODGES, senior vice president of manufacturing at Stanley Furniture Co. in Stanleytown, and TAYLOR VAUGHAN, senior vice president of Vaughan Furniture Co. in Galax.

MEDICAL

\ KIMBERLEIGH H. WHITE has been promoted to nurse educator with the newly formed Carilion Healthy Options component of Carilion Health Plans, a program for employees which includes health education, screenings and behavior modification. White, a graduate of Bluefield State College in Bluefield, W.Va., has experience in corporate wellness, emergency department, intensive care and employee health nursing.
