VIRGINIA TECH 2ND IN TOURNAMENT

In Buies Creek, N.C., freshman Tisha Truman scored two goals as Virginia Tech whipped Georgia Southern 4-0 in the Campbell University BB&T Women's Soccer Kickoff Tournament. The Hokies (3-0) finished second to host Campbell University in the round-robin event.

In Fairfax, Virginia Tech's men's team squandered a 3-1 second-half lead and lost 4-3 in overtime to American in the George Mason Lanzera Invitational. Scoring for the Hokies (2-1) were Jay Entlich, Chris Chladek and Greg Kozma. The Hokies play George Mason today at 2 p.m.

In Morgantown, W.Va., Scott Lanham scored with four minutes left to give West Virginia a 2-1 win over Radford (0-4). Matt Bennett scored on a penalty kick for Radford's only score.

Dustin Fonder and Todd Hallauer scored two goals each as Roanoke College (3-1) whipped Beaver College 7-0 in the Domino's Classic men's tournament at River's Edge.

In Fayetteville, N.C., the Roanoke College women's team was blanked in its season opener 3-0 by Methodist College. Roanoke was outshot 21-3.
