BASSETT WHIPS WILLIAM BYRD 72-43

Lori Wimbush scored 21 points to lead host Bassett, the top-ranked team in Timesland, to a 72-43 victory over William Byrd in high school girls' basketball.

Aimee Barker added 15 points for the Bengals (3-0).

Bassett led 31-19 at halftime of the non-district matchup and never was threatened.

William Byrd is 3-1.
