Officials at the Dallas-based organization will be watching Virginia to see how Perot followers in the state affect the outcome of the gubernatorial election this fall and the Senate race the following year, national Director Darcy Anderson said.
Anderson said other state chapters will be close behind Virginia's, which was formed at a July convention in Charlottesville. He said 43 of 50 state directors have been hired, and the goal is to charter chapters in every state by the end of the year.
Nationally, more than a million people have paid the $15 membership dues required to join. Virginia officials in July said the group had about 25,000 members.
