TO OUR READERS

Beginning today, we are offering a new information service called InfoLine. It allows you to use a Touch-Tone telephone to obtain news stories, sports scores, entertainment news, stock quotations and much more, 24 hours a day.

The number to call is 981-0100 (382-0200 in the New River Valley). Calls are free in the Roanoke Valley and most New River areas. Outside of those areas the calls will incur long-distance charges.

A partial directory of the information available will be published on page A-2 each Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday.

More detailed information is provided on the sports and stock listings pages, explaining how to use the system.

You may also notice that some news stories will carry a line directing readers to call InfoLine to obtain updates on those stories throughout the day.
