MCMANUS WINS STATE ARCHERY TITLE

Cay McManus won her fourth state archery championship of the year Sunday, with the top score in the bare-bow bowhunter division of the Virginia Open 3-D Championship.

The Lynch Station archer fired a 402 on the Sherwood Archers' range near Hanging Rock. Her division prohibits the use of sights and release devices.

A week earlier, McManus won the Virginia State Closed Championship in her division, also at Sherwood. Her other titles this season include the Virginia State Open and the Virginia State Indoor Championships. She also won the national championship.

The top score in the 3-D event was by Charles Sizemore Jr. of Bluefield, W.Va., who shot a 448 out of a possible 500 in the open unlimited division.

Mike Weilmuenster, a member of the Blacksburg-based Eastcoasters Cycling team, won the Henry Clay 30K Cross Country race in Coopers Rock State Forest, W.Va.
