In rallies in Jordan and Syria, Palestinians tore up pictures of PLO leader Yasser Arafat, burned Israeli flags, marched angrily through the streets and promised to wreck the PLO-Israeli peace.
But although the protests were strident, only a fraction of the region's hundreds of thousands of refugees participated. And elsewhere there were scenes of joy as Palestinians watched on television as Arafat shook the hand of the Israeli prime minister on the White House lawn. - Associated Press
