MCCORMICK, ELIZABETH WATKINS

McCORMICK, Elizabeth Watkins, 79, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, September 12, 1993, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born on November 7, 1913, in Henry County, Va. Elizabeth married her beloved, Roy L. McCormick Sr., who was the founder of McCormick Office Supply, on December 5, 1932, in Salem. He preceded her in death in 1970. She was a member of Crystal Spring Baptist Church. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Bruce Mitchell, Roanoke; one son and daughter-in-law, Roy Jr. and Nina McCormick, Roanoke; two sisters, Daisy Hylton, Salem, and Gladys Burgess, Princeton, W.Va.; two granddaughters, Vickie McCormick and Leigh-Anne Mitchell; three grandsons, Weldon Dowd III, Stephen McCormick and Christopher Mitchell; one step-granddaughter, Ginny Marshall, all of Roanoke; one former daughter-in-law, Cheryl McCormick, Roanoke; and several sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 15, 1993, at 11 a.m. at Oakey's South Chapel with the Reverend Harry Leland officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. Relatives and friends may call at Oakey's South Chapel on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Back Creek Fire and Rescue Department have been suggested by the family.
