OBIT WARD, ANNIE LAURIE

WARD, Annie Laurie, 84, of Roanoke, died Monday, September 13, 1993. Mrs. Ward was a piano teacher for many years. She was a member and past president of Roanoke Valley Chapter of the Virginia Music Teachers Association and served as judge for the National Guild of Piano Teachers. She was a very active member of Huntington Court United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. An alumni of Blackstone College in Amelia County where she earned her Associate of Arts Degree; she also became a certified teacher of the Dunning Course of Music. She was the widow of John Blair Ward and is survived by her daughter, Jane Blair Ward of Richmond; her grandsons, Justin Blair Ward, Richmond and William Bryson Buzzard of Roanoke and Richmond; a brother, Luther Beverly Barden, Gaithersburg, Md.; three sisters-in-law, Adelaide Barden of Richmond, Virginia Barden of Ardmore, Pa., and Sara Elizabeth Ward of Corpus Christi, Texas; a brother-in-law, Jeff Ward of S.C.; also are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at Huntington Court United Methodist Church, Roanoke noon Friday, September 17, 1993 with Rev. Alton M. Washington officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Burial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association or Blackstone College Alumni Scholarship Fund or a charity of your choice. Friends may call at Lotz Roanoke Chapel, 1001 Franklin Rd., S.W., 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. both Wednesday and Thursday.
