OBIT HANKS, ANN AKERS

HANKS, Ann Akers, 60, of Galax, died September 12, 1993, in Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, N.C. She was born September 5, 1933 in Carroll County, Va., a daughter of Charlie G. Akers and Effie Vass Akers. Mrs. Hanks is survived by her husband, Bill Hanks, Galax; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Susan Hanks, Oak Ridge, N.C.; daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Roger Callis, Newport News, Va., Frances and Michael Petty, Knoxville, Tenn.; brother, C. G. Akers Jr., Galax; sisters, Marie Mitchell, Fredericksburg, Va., Margie Dean Mitchell, Bel Air, Md.; grandchildren, Shelly Hanks, Daniel Hanks, Matthew Callis; stepgrandchildren, Susan Callis, Danny Callis. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Oakland United Methodist Church by Rev. Richard Gregory and Rev. Daryl Williams. Interment will be held at the Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Head Injury Foundation, 1776 Massachusetts Ave., N.W., Suite #108, Washington, D.C. 20036.
