NATO ORDERS BOSNIAN PEACEKEEPING PLANS

The United States and its NATO allies Wednesday ordered military strategists to draw up plans for enforcing an eventual peace accord in Bosnia.

Ambassadors of the 16 North Atlantic Treaty Organization nations called on aides to begin planning for a peacekeeping force. They said the plans would be used in case the alliance is asked by the United Nations to help implement terms of a settlement in the war-torn region.

Peace negotiations to partition Bosnia among warring Serbs, Croats and Muslims broke off this month in Geneva. No date has been set for resumption of the talks.
