NARROWS FALLS 59-57 TO FORT CHISWELL IN OT

Chastity Wright and Tana Eversole each sank a free throw in overtime as Fort Chiswell edged Narrows 59-57 in Mountain Empire District girls' basketball Wednesday night.

The Green Wave led 27-21 at halftime, but the Pioneers outscored Narrows 19-7 in the third quarter to take a six-point lead. Melinda Fleeman scored 15 of her 22 points in the fourth to rally the Green Wave and push the game into overtime.

Stephanie Felts led Fort Chiswell (3-2 overall, 3-1 Mountain Empire) with 14 points and Wright added 12.

Suzanne Webb scored 15 points and Melissa Lawrence had 14 for Narrows.

George Wythe 19

WYTHEVILLE - Lisa Price scored 20 points as the Indians pounded the Maroons for a non-district victory.

Mary Thorn added 11 points and Meredith Braine chipped in 10 as Blacksburg (5-1) led throughout.

Lisa Garland scored 13 points for George Wythe (1-4). \

Tuesday's game

\ Giles 58, Bland 25: In Pearisburg, Kelly Williams scored 11 points as the Spartans crushed the Rockets in the Mountain Empire District.

All Giles players scored as the Spartans (1-3, 1-2) led from the start.

Rachel French of Bland (0-4, 0-3) led all scorers with 15 points. \
