HAIRSTON, Robert Melvin, 67, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 1993. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca E. Hairston; daughters and son-in-law, Juanita and Wilk Jr. Jordan, Pamela Jordan; sons and daughter-in-law, James and Chrystella Hairston, Lawrence Hairston, all of Roanoke; mother, Estelle Flippen Hairston of Cascade; three grandchildren, James Osby, LaDonna Nicole Jordan, Tiffany Renee Jordan, all of Roanoke; seven sisters, Nancy Phillips of East Elm Hurst, N.Y., Hattie Adams of Oxon Hill, Md., Thelma Pearson of Lanham, Md., Anna France of Columbia, Md., Doreatha Hall, Mildred Jamison, both of Cascade, Clara McKenzie of Chatam; three brothers, George C. Hairston of Rockville, Md., Tommie Hairston, Joseph Hairston, both of Cascade; four aunts, Lessie Hairston of Maryland, Delphine Atkins, Elsie Hairston, Mae Hairston, all of Roanoke; two devoted friends, Edythe Fisher, May H. Hairston, both of Roanoke; a host of nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Sweet Union Baptist Church. Dr. Edward T. Burton will officiate with interment in Old Dominion Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home.
