FLOYD COUNTY CRUISES TO VICTORY

Floyd County bolted to a 32-6 first-quarter lead, and the fourth-ranked team in Timesland cruised the rest of the way Thursday night in a 98-49 girls' basketball victory over Rocky Gap.

Thirteen players scored for Floyd County (4-1 overall, 4-0 Mountain Empire District).

Lynette Nolley led the Buffaloes with 26 points, including three 3-pointers.

Nancy Tupper led Rocky Gap (3-4, 2-2) with 18 points.

Graham 55\ Radford 46

BLUEFIELD - Something Radford had been hoping for - a win - didn't happen on Thursday night, as Graham raced to a 28-16 halftime lead and held on for the non-district victory.

Graham (5-1) was led by Angela Webb's 19 points, and Leslie Roberts added 14. The Bobcats were led by Charlee Taylor's 16 points.

Radford is 0-6.i

Auburn 64\ Giles 42

RINER - The unbeaten Eagles spurted out to a quick 25-5 lead and never looked back in the Mountain Empire District win over the Spartans.

Sherry Smith led Auburn (5-0 overall, 4-0 district) with 15 points. Lori Lyons added 12 points, while Renay Gardner had 10.

Heather Wilburn had 13 points and Gina Claytor 10 for Giles (1-4, 1-3).

Shawsville 35\ Galax 25

GALAX - Robin Burdette scored 14 points to lead the Shawnees past the Maroon tide in the Mountain Empire District matchup.

Jaclyn Dickens had eight points for Galax.

CARROLL County 55\ Craig County 30

NEW CASTLE - The Cavaliers jumped out to a 16-0 lead and rolled to the non-district rout of the Rockets.

Marie Martin led Carroll County (2-0) with 10 points.

Bonnie Boardwine had 14 points and Chrissy Robertson 10 for Craig County (0-1).
