NEWBERN FALL FESTIVAL PLANNED OCT. 8-10

The annual Fall Festival of Arts and Crafts will be held in downtown Newbern Oct. 8-10. More than 200 vendors and entertainers are expected.

Activities include apple butter making, a parade down the Old Wilderness Road, hot air balloon and wagon rides, craft demonstrations, farm-animal displays and gospel singing.

Events are free, and hours are Oct. 8 4 p.m.-dark; Oct. 9 all day; Oct. 10 noon to 6 p.m.
