REPORTED EARNINGS

Rowe Furniture Corp., Arlington-based manufacturer with operations in Salem, on Friday reported net shipments, the equivalent of sales, of $20.8 million for its third quarter ended Aug. 29, up 14.7 percent over $18.1 million a year earlier. Net income was $848,000, or 21 cents per share, up 245 percent over $246,000 or 6 cents per share a year ago. Year-earlier per share earnings were adjusted for reflect retroactive effect of a 3-for-2 stock split last December.

For the nine months, Rowe said shipments rose 17.6 percent to $62.1 million and net income rose 761 percent to $2.4 million, or 58 cents per share.

Eagle-Picher earnings

Eagle-Picher Industries Inc., Cincinnati parent of Wolverine gaskets plant in Blacksburg, said Friday sales for its third quarter ended Aug. 31 were $162.2 million, up 4.4 percent compared with $155.4 million for the third quarter of 1992. Net income was $8.3 million or 75 cents per share, up 1.2 percent compared with $8.2 million or 75 cents per share for the same period last year.
