FOR THE RECORD

Tom Nasta, a chartered financial consultant, was incorrectly identified by a reporter in a front page story Thursday. Nasta is president of Personal Financial Planning Inc. in Roanoke and was quoted in a story about ways to cope with rising college costs.

An Associated Press graphic that ran Tuesday with the college-costs series contained erroneous information on expenditures at two universities. Virginia Tech has lowered expenditures on public services by 2 percent since the 1985-1986 academic year. In the same period, expenditures on libraries at Old Dominion University have decreased 0.4 percent.

A graphic in the same series incorrectly stated that full professors at state colleges and universities could choose to teach no courses without penalty.

Also, The Associated Press reported erroneously in a story about prominent professors in Virginia universities the name of the school where George Mason University professor James Buchanan formerly taught. He formerly taught at Virginia Tech.

Because of a copy editor's error, the score of the Richmond-VMI football game was incorrectly reported in a story about VMI running back Chris Meacham in Friday's editions. The correct score of the game was Richmond 38, VMI 14.
