IVERSON GETS BOND HEARING IN HAMPTON

A judge in Hampton agreed Friday to consider releasing Bethel High School star Allen Iverson on bond while Iverson appeals three felony convictions.

Hampton Circuit Judge Walter J. Ford set a hearing for Monday to decide if Iverson should be given a chance to post bond and leave the Newport News City Farm, where he is serving a five-year jail term.

Iverson and three other men were convicted and sentenced to jail terms for their roles in a Valentine's Day brawl at a bowling alley in Hampton.

Iverson had been considered of the nation's top high school basketball prospect and was named the Group AAA Player of the Year in football and basketball during the 1992-93 school year.
