EASTERN STATE COULD REGAIN ACCREDITATION

The agency that took away Eastern State Hospital's accreditation in July is prepared to restore it, the director of the state-run mental facility said Friday.

Representatives of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations ended a two-week visit to Eastern State by saying "they will recommend that we will get accreditation," said John Favret, the hospital's director.

Steven Davidow, a spokesman for the Oakbrook, Ill.-based commission, declined to comment.
