Adults from the region are invited to join. There is no tuition charge for those who do not seek college credit.
The band, directed by Jack O. White, has performed concerts in Independence, Galax, Marion and Rocky Gap. It gives two concerts each year in Wytheville in addition to performing at Wytheville Community College's commencement and the Wytheville Chautauqua Festival. Several thousand people attended the Chautauqua performance this summer.
The band's main purpose is to let adults from the college's service area continue participation in an instrumental musical group after high school.
Last year, the band had 85 members. Further information is available from Dan Jones at 228-5541 or, toll-free, (800) 468-1195, extension 235.
