ADMINISTRATION FIGURES JOIN IN AIDS MARCH

AIDS represents the ultimate test of the reformed health care system being proposed by the Clinton administration, Tipper Gore told people who marched Saturday to raise money for a cure.

Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders said she will use her office to promote AIDS education and prevention.

Organizers claimed 30,000 people participated in the event and that it raised more than $1.25 million for local AIDS education, research and care. District of Columbia police estimated the number of marchers at 10,000 - in line with informal observations by reporters who covered the march.
