CUNDIFF SCORES 1ST FCS TRIUMPH

With four 1993 winners in pursuit, Rodney Cundiff won the 100-lap Late Model Stock Car feature race of the National Pistol Association 300 on Saturday night at Franklin County Speedway.

The victory was Cundiff's first at FCS this season, and it was the first 1993 LMSC win for a Ford at the track.

Cundiff, who raced at New River Valley Speedway and at Callaway this year, moved into the lead on lap 11, easing past Tim McGuire and Rick Sigmon. Cundiff was never headed, although his Thunderbird appeared to be leaking liquid near the finish.

The second through fifth finishers - Dudley Lawhorn, Harvey Harrison, Tony McGuire and Sigmon, respectively - have a combined 19 wins this season.

In other races Saturday night:

Street Stock competitors Jimmy Mullins and Dale Marlowe crossed the finish line in contact, with Mullins earning the narrow win. Mike Dudley took third.

Points leader R.W. Lawhorn extended his string of Pure Stock victories. Leon Moles overtook Red Hartman late in the race to place second.

Steve Lynch passed Carlton Clark on lap 18 and went on another Mini Stock win. Clark finished second, ahead of Tommy Dean.

Gary Clifton was the Rookie winner, besting Josh Ingram and points leader Steve Hurley.

Johnny Dunbar won the Any Car nightcap. - Staff report
