HERMITAGE GOLFERS WIN VSGA TITLE

Paced by the first-place finishes of seven-time state amateur champion Vinny Giles and teammate David Partridge, Hermitage Country Club of Richmond won the VSGA Club Championship at Water's Edge Country Club in Penhook on Saturday.

Partridge shot a 73 in Saturday's final round, and Giles a 76, which was more than enough as Hermitage shot a 440 total, eight over par, for a 13-shot victory. The teammates each shot a 1-over-par 145 in the two-day event on the par-72, 6,909-yard course.

Tuscarora Country Club of Danville was second with a 453. Forest Park Country Club of Martinsville was third with a 459. Defending champion Hidden Valley Country Club of Roanoke finished fourth with a 476.
