PAIR OF ROANOKERS WIN EVENT

Two Roanoke weightlifters finished first in their classes at the 1993 Championship of the Americas powerlifting competition Friday and Saturday in Rockville, Md.

Seven countries were represented at the event.

Robert Lovelace placed first in the masters division (over 40) in the 181-pound class. He also was first in the open age division (20-39). Lovelace is the current Virginia state champion and holds records in all four categories (squat, bench press, dead lift and total weight).

Bill Lindsey of Roanoke was first in the masters division in the 198-pound class and was first in the open age division. Lindsey is the Virginia champion in the bench press and total weight.
