OBIT BOARD, GEORGE JR.

BOARD, George Jr., of Roanoke, died Wednesday, September 15, 1993, at his home. He was born in Bedford, February 14, 1917, son of the late George Board Sr. and Sally Thompson Board. He graduated from Greer College, Chicago, Ill., and worked as a mechanic for B&H Motors of Bedford for 41 years. He served as Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He was a member of the Alleghany Dunbar Lodge #109. He is survived by his wife, Virginia J. Board; two sons, George (Hattye) Board III, Pittsburgh, Pa. and Joseph Michael (Virginia) Board, Richmond; two grandsons, Justin A. Board, Pittsburgh, Pa., Joseph M. "Joey" Board, Richmond; two brothers-in-law, Frank O. (Delitha) Johnson Sr. and Alexander (Annie) White, Roanoke; one aunt, Virginia Cato, Springdale, Ark.; cousins; relatives; and devoted friends. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m., Monday, September 20, 1993, Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Henry A. Henderson will officiate. Interment will follow in Williams Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 19, 1993, 7 to 8 p.m., at Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home.
