OBIT POTTER, AIRY RADFORD
POTTER, Airy Radford (`Ralph`), 83, of Route 2, Penhook, died Saturday,
September 18, 1993, in the local hospital. He was a son of the late Lewis
Jackson and Nannie Kirk Potter and was preceded in death by a brother, Cliff
Potter. Mr. Potter was a member of Old Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Hester Bousman Potter of the home; one daughter and
son-in-law, Betty and Ronald Matherly of Penhook; four sons and three
daughters-in-law, Kenneth W. Potter of Concord, N.C., Dennis and Peggy Potter
of Glade Hill, Joe and Peggy Potter of Martinsville and Calbert and Gale
Potter of Rocky Mount; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters,
Clara Jones of Martinsville and Ruby Reynolds of Rocky Mount; four brothers,
Willard Potter of Martinsville, Ben Potter of Roanoke, Gene Potter and Hoover
Potter, both of Rocky Mount; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will
be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in Flora Funeral Chapel with Elder Raymond Goad
and Elder Thomas Solomon officiating. Interment will follow in the Potter
Family Cemetery. Those desiring to may make memorials to the Snow Creek Rescue
Squad. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Flora
Funeral Service, 342 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
